About the Summer Analyst Internship Programme
This is a ten-week programme designed to fully immerse you in the day-today activities of one of Goldman Sachs' divisions. The programme starts with a firmwide orientation where you’ll learn about their culture, as well as the benefits and responsibilities of being a member of Goldman Sachs. You will also receive division-specific training designed to help you succeed in your division.
After training, you will receive real responsibilities to give you a sense of what you would be doing, day to day, as a full-time Goldman Sachs employee. Along with fellow interns, you will work alongside leaders within the industry. Successful Summer Analysts may be invited back to join the New Analyst programme in a full time position.
About the Global Investment Research Division
Global Investment Research delivers client-focused research in the equity, fixed income, currency and commodities markets.
GIR analysts help the firm’s investing clients achieve superior returns through differentiated investment insights and ideas. Their clients include mutual funds, hedge funds, and pension funds, among others.
Global Investment Research is organized into five groups:
- Equity Research analysts analyze macro, sector and company fundamentals to identify investment opportunities for the stocks we cover globally.
- Credit Research analysts make investment recommendations for the corporate debt and credit derivatives of issuers in various industry sectors.
- Economics Research analysts formulate macroeconomic forecasts for economic activity, foreign exchange rates and interest rates.
- Portfolio and Strategy Research analysts formulate equity market views, forecasts and recommendations on both asset and industry sector allocations for every major market. .
- Commodities Research analysts analyze macro fundamentals to formulate forecasts for commodities in six main areas: Oil, Gas, Base Metals, Precious Metals, and Agriculture.
The Global Markets Institute is the public policy arm of Goldman Sachs, providing research and high-level advisory services to policymakers, regulators and investors around the world.
Research analysts at Goldman Sachs are intellectually curious, creative and analytical. In addition to being passionate about the markets and interested in the research process, analysts typically possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Summer interns are placed into equity, credit, economics, commodities and strategy research teams, where they focus on project work and the day-to-day tasks of a research team. They work closely with their teams and broader business units and gain exposure to all aspects of a research analyst’s role. A typical day could include working on financial models , conducting research on and writing portions of thematic pieces, analyzing market trends and attending conferences.
