EmployAbility is delighted to be working with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to offer disabled students and graduates the opportunity to apply for their Graduate Programme.

About the Programme

Part of our Competition & Economics division, our Economics team provide rigorous economic thinking, research, analysis and advice to help the FCA deliver on its strategic objective of making financial services markets work well. This is a great opportunity to guide future FCA policy decisions, evaluate previous decisions and ensure we meet our objectives as a regulator, making a real difference to consumers’ lives.

Joining this collaborative and friendly department, you’ll have the chance to work on a variety of projects and will be involved in drafting reports, presenting your analysis and providing support to the wider organisation. While the majority of the work is internally focussed, there’s also a lot of external facing work, dealing with the firms that the FCA regulates.

You’ll be working on market studies, conducting cost benefit assessments and evaluations and carrying out economic research and analysis. We’re keen for our graduates to develop and grow during their time with us, so as part of this programme we’ll pay for you to undertake a Masters in Economics if you don’t have one already.

What we look for

A degree related to economics is essential however you’ll also need a keen interest in analytics and a willingness to learn about financial markets. You’ll be a great team player – collaborative and proactive – and have a talent for working with others in both formal and informal teams. The ability to communicate complex issues succinctly, provide compelling advice and challenge others, is a must. 

Learning & Development

As a graduate in Economics you’ll complete the training pathway through our training Academy which will equip you with all technical skills and business understanding you need. You’ll also undertake a fully-funded MSc in Economics at the University of Birkbeck with part-time evening study over 12 months. If you already have an MSc in Economics you’ll have the opportunity to take on alternative  study.

Candidates apply through EmployAbility but each applicant is assessed against the FCA's core competencies and selected through the FCA's recruitment process. Successful candidates are hired directly on to the Graduate Programme and participate in every aspect of it.
