NHS Communications Graduate Management Training Scheme - 2009 Imagine what it's like being part of a press office team during a global healthcare issue like swine flu, with massive amounts of information collected and distributed within a matter of days, or liaising with the local press after an incident at your hospital or even helping NHS departments engage with a wide range of stakeholders. Combine this with the other projects that come from working within one of the world's largest employers and you'll be facing challenges from the start that, in terms of career experience, will set you up for anything the future holds. As an NHS communicator you will have the opportunity to experience a variety of NHS communications departments which will include opportunities in Marketing and PR/Engagement. Such broad exposure and training will not only keep things fresh and interesting but will equip you with invaluable career experience, much of which will involve high profile cases in the local health community. You will have the opportunity to really make a difference to the health community you are working in. This is a Pilot Scheme which covers two years and includes work experience in a variety of NHS Communications departments, complemented by a post graduate qualification and a personal development programme. You'll also be supported by a mentor and participate in action learning sets all designed to ensure you develop the competence and confidence to rise to the challenges of the NHS as an emerging leader. Your trainee work placements in Communications will be provided by accredited NHS organisations and NHS professional Communications managers. What you'll needWe ask for at least a 2.2 degree in any subject, although some degree equivalents are also acceptable. We need candidates who have achieved academically but we also want a diverse range of people and for that reason we believe that our rigorous process selects the leadership capability for the NHS, not your degree classification.
