About Goldman Sachs

The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. is a leading global investment banking, securities and investment management firm that provides a wide range of financial services to a substantial and diversified client base that includes corporations, financial institutions, governments and high-net-worth individuals.

About the Summer Analyst Internship Programme

This is a ten-week programme designed to fully immerse you in the day-today activities of one of Goldman Sachs' divisions. The program starts with a firmwide orientation where you’ll learn about their culture, as well as the benefits and responsibilities of being a member of Goldman Sachs. You will also receive division-specific training designed to help you succeed in your division.

After training, you will receive real responsibilities to give you a sense of what you would be doing, day to day, as a full-time Goldman Sachs employee. Along with fellow interns, you will work alongside leaders within the industry. Successful Summer Analysts may be invited back to join the New Analyst program in a full time position.

About the Investment Banking Division

The Investment Banking teams deliver high-quality strategic advice and creative financing solutions to our clients, including mergers, acquisitions, financing, and risk management transactions.

They pride themeselves in their resourcefulness and work on a variety of initiatives. On any given day, their work could include advising a company on a cross-border merger, structuring the initial public offering of a subsidiary, refinancing an outstanding bond and more.

The Investment Banking division encompasses two groups: Investment Banking and the Financing Group.

The Investment Banking division’s dual structure allows them to bring their expertise to a broad range of products and services. Teams across both groups work closely with clients to deliver creative financing solutions.

The Investment Banking Group

The Investment Banking Group works in developed and emerging markets worldwide to deliver banking services for a wide range of industries. Their team approach to client service enables their bankers to play an important role in building relationships and executing transactions.

Transactions might include orchestrating a global equity or debt offering for a corporation in Asia, advising a US company on a cross-border merger, or creating an innovative private market transaction for a European financial institution.

The Financing Group

Within a dynamic, market-driven environment, The Financing Group works closely with corporate clients, pension funds, financial sponsors and governments to structure and execute some of the largest and most complex financing and risk management transactions.

Their aim is to provide their clients with the best and most innovative financing and risk management solutions across the full product spectrum, including equity, debt and derivatives. To achieve this goal, the Financing Group comprises all Goldman Sachs' capital markets departments, and operates in close cooperation with other areas of Investment Banking and other divisions within the firm, including Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities and Equities.

Working in the Investment Banking division, you will be helping clients solve some of their most critical financial and strategic challenges. They’re looking for candidates who will thrive in a dynamic environment where multitasking, time management and stamina are essential.
You should be comfortable working with numbers and be an analytical thinker. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are needed in order to work successfully with clients and team members.

The Summer Analyst Program is a rewarding experience for undergraduates. By working alongside Goldman professionals, summer analysts learn the skills and knowledge necessary to become integral members of Goldman Sachs’ project and client teams. An emphasis on learning on the job is complemented by a brief training session.

Summer analysts are placed into one of the investment banking departments. By concentrating your efforts in a specific area of our business, you will quickly develop proficiency and participate in many aspects of financial transactions which could include stock offerings, mergers and acquisitions, debt financings and more. Summer analysts are involved with teams including managing directors, vice presidents, associates and analysts, in an open atmosphere where ideas are continuously shared and creative thinking and individual initiative are encouraged. Colleagues serve as both instructors and mentors. Summer analysts will form relaionships with many professionals while developing special camaraderie with their peers in the Summer Analyst Program.

Summer analyst responsibilities include developing client presentations, gathering information, building financial spreadsheet models, working on various projects to support client relations, and assisting banking teams with day-to-day responsibilities. You will gain exposure to the firm’s businesses and expanded knowledge of the investment banking industry while developing important analytical and communication skills. As a commitment to our summer analysts, their responsibilities, performance, goals and professional development are reviewed by team members with whom they work, both at mid-summer and at end of summer.
