Top City Rivals Team Up To Seek Disabled TalentNine Investment Banks (ABN AMRO, Barclays Capital, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, RBS, UBS) combined forces on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th November to participate in InvestAbility 2007, a two day event for disabled undergraduates and graduates interested in careers in investment banking. InvestAbility 2007 was hosted on day one by ABN AMRO an investment bank in the City, and on day two at Morgan Stanley offices in Canary Wharf. 97 disabled students and recent graduates participated in this two day event to learn about the divisions and range of career opportunities available within these top investment banks, and their commitment to disability and diversity. Feedback from the delegates has been very positive, ‘I would just like to say a big thank you. I and all the delegates that I spoke to got a huge amount out of InvestAbility. It was great to have so much exposure to the various banks’ representatives. I certainly made some good contacts and gained an invaluable insight into the industry’. The event came about as the result of the collaboration between the Interbank Graduate Diversity Recruiters Forum and the disability organisation, EmployAbility. The Interbank Graduate Diversity Recruiters Forum is made up of some of the top global investment banks working together as an industry to attract talent from the widest possible pool. EmployAbility is the not-for-profit organisation dedicated to assisting people with all disabilities into employment. They work primarily with disabled undergraduates and graduates to ease the transition from education to employment, supporting and advising these candidates and their employers throughout the entire recruitment process and beyond. EmployAbility also work with employers to break down barriers to entry for disabled people, thereby helping employers become more ‘disability inclusive’. Skills For Success – Merrill Lynch 1 Day WorkshopMerrill Lynch, a world leading Investment Bank is holding a 1 day skills workshop for students graduating in 2009. As students are about to enter their penultimate year, it’s time to start thinking about the career opportunities available and the skills required to be successful. A selection of students from Employability have been invited to attend this exciting event. The workshop aims to enhance skills required for the application and assessment process and gain an understanding of the career opportunities available in the Investment Banking industry. There will also be an opportunity to meet representatives from Merrill Lynch throughout the day and hear from recent joiners within the organisation.
