Was just talking to some of the Recruiters in the library and one said “that disability tech talk was super super amazing, the best one I have ever been to at Google”, her colleague replied “yes, only training session I have ever been to where people applauded at the end” – thanks again for coming all the way here to do it but so clearly needed.

[The Disability Awareness Training was] excellent – covered the ground in a quick, concise and accessible way.  It was really helpful to have an opportunity to discuss disability issues.

I now appreciate what a disability is and how to take action.  [The training was] interesting, informative and useful, with good pace and timing.

It was good to learn and talk in a safe environment.  All really useful and relevant to my role.

I found this course provided awareness, and was a refresher having attended it a few years ago. I felt it provided good all round advice by tailoring case scenarios, a disability quiz and Q&A session.  All employees should attend this course as compulsory training to raise awareness!

The information, issues and best practice advice for recruitment and selection was very useful.

[The Disability Awareness Training was] really helpful in particular the interviews/issues around internships; performance – how to consider problems in the context of disability; and disability etiquette do’s & dont’s.

[The Disability Awareness Training was] very clear and comprehensive, with useful points on taking on a disabled team member and understanding adjustments for people with disabilities.

[The disability] statistics were alarming – I felt ignorant for not knowing the answers! Very eye opening.  It was very helpful to have general information on different disabilites and the adjustments that should be made available.

Our Firm (a leading global financial services firm) has worked with Tab Ahmad and Sarah Denness for the last 3 years to execute our diversity recruitment strategy for students with disability.

We first worked with them in 2006 to develop an Interbank event for students with disabilities to raise awareness of the industry and challenge misconceptions and preconceptions that many students, especially those with disabilities, have.

Following the success of this event it was evident to the Firm that we were missing out on a significant pool of talent currently opting out of our recruiting process.  We subsequently piloted an integrated internship for students with disabilities, with Tab and Sarah supporting us at every stage from marketing of the scheme to application screening and selection processes, on-boarding, reasonable adjustment implementation and supporting candidates throughout the Summer.

Eight candidates with disabilities joined established internship programmes across the firm in London as part of this inaugural programme.

The success of the scheme lead to the creation of the EmployAbility Internship Programme in 2007, extended to include our First Year Programmes.
