The Summer Internship Programme 2009The internship programme offers you an all-round experience of Barclays Wealth, our business, culture and values. You will have the opportunity to meet senior management, network across the business and have an insight into what we do. It offers you a flying start, before you’ve even begun. The summer programme is designed to make interns feel settled from Day One. We will equip you with fundamental skills, knowledge and insights into how we operate as a business. It will be your first step in building your area of expertise as the programme progresses. Over your 10 weeks from June to September, you’ll experience an initial classroom-based training period to learn the fundamentals, after which you’ll be presented with countless networking and social opportunities. You’ll also gain plenty of hands-on work experience – and that’s just something we can’t teach. The 2009 summer internship programme in London will take place from Monday 22 June to Friday 28 August 2009. Internships are also available in Hong Kong and Singapore with flexible start dates. Spring Session – for first year students.London, 30 March - 3 April 2009 As part of our commitment to work with the very best, Barclays Wealth is pleased to open our doors for one week in the Easter holidays. If you are in your first year at university (or second year on a 4 year course), we welcome your application. This programme is conducted jointly with Barclays Capital (our investment banking division) and will give you the perfect opportunity to see how wealth management and investment banking really work. With insight into the broad range of opportunities available, you’ll network with new graduates and senior staff members alike, through shadowing, presentations and interactive activities. There are also sessions to help you develop your skills and be better prepared for our internship and graduate programmes. And, of course, we’ll have a bit of fun along the way. The Recruitment ProcessShould your application be short listed, you will be invited to an assessment centre which will include sitting aptitude tests. EmployAbility will ensure all reasonable adjustment requirements are put in place as required and we will talk through the tests and assessment centre exercises with you beforehand. Although this can seem a daunting experience, EmployAbility will be available to offer support and assistance where needed.
